Narrative Therapy Complex Trauma Group Series

The Narrative Therapy CPTSD Group Series is an online therapeutic space for California-based adults navigating the many layers of complex trauma, whether rooted in childhood, relationships, systems of oppression, or long-term emotional neglect.

These series are grounded in narrative therapy, reflective journaling, and group process, using carefully selected books as guides for exploring how trauma has shaped your voice, your identity, and your relationships.

Why join the first therapy group series: Healing From Emotionally Immature Parents?

Emotionally Immature Parents Therapy Group Series is for adults who still feel the emotional impact of growing up in homes where their feelings were ignored, dismissed, or treated like a burden. Emotionally Immature Parents Therapy Group Series helps you name those experiences, understand how they’ve shaped your patterns, and begin the process of healing in a safe, supportive community.

This space can help you:

  • Understand and reframe the emotional neglect, parentification, or enmeshment you experienced

  • Release internalized shame, guilt, or the feeling of being invisible

  • Rebuild stronger boundaries, emotional clarity, and deeper self-trust

  • Connect with others who carry similar family dynamics—and discover you are not alone

  • Begin to heal the inner child with curiosity, creativity, and care

FAQ About Narrative Therapy Groups

  • No. Emotionally Immature Parent Therapy Group uses concepts from the book as optional tools, but no prior reading is required. Relevant themes and prompts will be provided in groups.

  • Yes. Emotionally Immature Parent Therapy Group is for anyone who feels emotionally unseen or dismissed growing up—even if their childhood looked “fine” from the outside. Trauma isn’t always what happened—it’s how it impacted you.

  • Totally normal. Emotionally Immature Parent Therapy Group allows you to participate at your own pace. You’re welcome to listen, reflect quietly, or use the chat. There’s no pressure to speak until you feel ready.

  • At this time, Emotionally Immature Parent Therapy Group is only open to adults living in California, due to state licensing laws.

  • This is a therapy group, not a book club. While each group is centered around a book related to trauma or healing, the focus is on guided self-reflection, narrative prompts, and group processing. The reading supports the work, but the healing comes through storytelling, witnessing, and being in community with others who share similar experiences.

  • Most Narrative Therapy Group Series run for 6 to 8 weeks, with 75-minute sessions held weekly via secure Zoom. Groups are capped at around 8 members to ensure intimacy and safety.

  • While it’s ideal to attend all sessions to build trust and continuity, we understand life happens. You can miss one session if needed—but we ask that you commit to the group as a consistent, active presence when possible.

  • Nope. Read what you can, when you can. Each week’s prompt and reflection is based on a chapter or theme, and you’ll be given the option to engage whether you’ve read or not. The book is a resource, not a requirement.
